The ancient city of Lambusa is located on the coastline of the town of Lapta in the Kyrenia District of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It is the ruins of a rich city kingdom from the Neolithic age. It is one of the nine largest kingdoms in Cyprus.

The ancient city of Lambusa was named Lambusa, which means Bright, because it was a rich city. The ruins of the ancient city of Lambusa include tombs, a queen's pool, fortifications and an open-air museum.

The artifacts unearthed during excavations are exhibited in the museums of foreign cities such as New York and London.

Lambusans left their city during the Lusignan period and started to establish Lapta. This process continued during the Ottoman period.

Lapta is a large settlement located 14 km west of Kyrenia, north of Servili Tepe (Selvili Tepe - Kyparissovounos), the highest peak of the Kyrenia mountain range with a height of 1024 meters, and on the Kyrenia - Güzelyurt highway.

The surface area of Lapta, which is spread from the mountain slopes to the coast, is 18.3 km2. Throughout history it has been known as Lapathos, Lapethia, Lapethos, Lapida, Lapitho, Lapithos, Lapthia, Lambousa, Imeroessa and Lapithea.

Lapta is built as an amphitheater between the sea and the mountain. The average height above sea level is 250 meters. It is neighboring Karşıyaka (Vasilya - Vasileia) to the west and Alsancak (Karava - Karavas) to the east.

Lapta is one of the most beautiful settlements of Cyprus with its physical location, lush green mountains, lush vegetation, mild climate and abundant water.

Gönyeli is located six kilometers west of the center of Nicosia and on the old Nicosia-Girne road. Gönyeli is considered a fairly large settlement of the Nicosia district. The foundation of the village dates back to ancient times. In 1571, after Selim II was appointed as the Ottoman Sultan, an expedition was organized to Cyprus and the island was conquered.

There is ample evidence that the village was a very old settlement. In 1951, drinking water was brought to the village. Remains of a church were found in the foundation pits dug for the construction of the water tank. It is quite interesting that the name of this church is Ayios Gunellis. It is also a fact that there are glassware from the Roman period in the foundation excavations of the houses built in that region. There is also a necropolis area in the center of the village. It is known that human bones were found during the excavation of wells and septic pits in this area. These finds are accepted as an indication that the village dates back to ancient times.

Gönyeli was the largest Turkish village in Cyprus when Turks and Greeks lived together. Now it has ceased to be a village and has almost become another city growing into Nicosia.
